Get as many stories out of your grandparents as possible... They lived through the 30's more than likely. Completely experienced tons of history. I find it completely fascinating!

last summer i found out my grandpa learned how to read at 17. he got his high school diploma at 20. moved to the city and went to military academy. at graduation, he was #2 in the class--second only to the prince of iran (the future shah wtf) who probably gets first by default--and the king of iran presented him with a sword wtf. then he became the international military representative of iran and was fluent in five different languages and had nine kids wtf.
