Travelling and Winter Hijinks

Jan 09, 2010 17:01

The second Saturday of the year. Last week today, I was still flying from home to the US, snuggled up against my sister on an SIA aeroplane, attempting to sleep on an extremely turbulent flight enroute to Frankfurt ( Read more... )

Blahahaha...it was the rainbow strap! It had 'send me to California' written all over it!

So my luggage was abandoned on the tarmac in readiness to be shipped over to California?

That doesn't explain why they had to rip the wheel off my first one.

I like flying. But I'm starting to feel this hatred for USian airlines and airports grow in my chest, right here.

At least! It contained my earmuffs and bento box so if they had left it in Chicago I would have been very unhappy.

Oh wow. I never fail to be amazed at the hijinks and utter confusion you get flying. The worst damage my luggage has taken is that Southwest ripped the fabric on the bottom of one of my suitcases. (Thankfully, it only covered the metal supports so nothing got exposed.) I've flown out of mostly SLC and SeaTac. Neither one has seemed particularly bad about security...but the holidays certainly make things crazier.

*hugs* Good luck and here's hoping no more of your luggage gets lost or mangled.

And I used to think that people were making a mountain out of a molehill about flying. Turns out if you try and fly in the US, you get to run the gauntlet of all the types of flying mishaps you possibly can, and more.

Fun, init?

We went to an Asian fusion place, which frankly was rather laughable in being 'authentic', seeing that they were trying to serve Asian food in what looked like a 4-star Italian or French restaurant setting. It just wasn't quite Asian, and it wasn't quite European

That's pretty much the definition of 'fusion' cuisine--it's not *trying* to be authentic to either style.

Considering that they were trying to be ASIAN, by fusing ALL the asian styles they could put their paws on...

well.
