"you are SO off my friend's list!"

Ever been upset or angry about being "unfriended" or "defriended"?

Here's a little perspective.

My favorite quote: "If you need to appear on an internet list to know whether you're someone's friend, you may have problems a computer can't solve."

I do like the list filters on LJ, but a pause button is such a better idea. :)

Hehehe, yes I know. That's what I meant by list filters. And I do use them. But the hypothetical pause feature he delineates in the article is even better.

To paraphrase Yoda:

"Pause not. Read or read not. There is no pause."

The filter option may be a social escape valve, but I see it as a waste of time and energy. LJ drama over being defriended be hanged!

Completely understand your POV, but dealing with LJ drama can end up being a waste of time and energy as well. So I gladly use the LJ filter tool to avoid it. :)

I call the whole phenom the "hierarchy of associations"

I have so many casual acquaintances through social circles - but what really constitutes friendship has become so strange to manage...

At this point, I just post everything privately to friends only, and befriend whomever befriends me IF they actually write to me
