shin splints. a massage therapist recommended a stretch that I haven't had htem since.
standing or sitting
one leg forward (foot on floor, knee straight) curl your toes like you're trying to grip something (like a short or towel or...)
repeat 2-3 times with each foot
..I usually tack on lots of other stretches to get the rest of hte legs relaxing from their stiffened state while running (standing on tip toes, do some squats, some lunges, foot in the air and rotate the ankle)
I used to get splints all the time when I used hte treadmill when ew first got it, that was the main reason I stopped using it. just couldn't.
..now it's my f-infg knees :( sigh

Thanks for the pointer! I'll have to try it...I've also heard about a tape that I can use that will help me from getting the shin splints so I'm looking into that too.

It's just so frustrating because all the things I THOUGHT would bother me (breathing, heart rate, bad back, bum knee) aren't causing me any trouble at all...but these stupid shin splints will be the death of me :(
