You need to be you and deserve to be accepted for who you are not what a place wants to represent. I do understand wanting to have a "role model" for the leader who exemplifies the ideals of what they are trying to be. Not everyone fits that role exactly and if one aspect of a person does not match but the rest does then that person should be given a chance to represent an aspect of the group. You might not want to lead a marriage group, but certainly a Mom's group is perfect for you. You are a Mom, you have professional training and experience and your job is working with parents. Perfect fit!

Live your life the way you are. The ones that deserve your respect and time are the ones who will accept you the way you are.
