Telling the truth all the time is a huge liability and a dangerous reflex to have. I mean, yes, you have to know the turth. You have to know where you're at and what's really up with you or it's going to keep fucking you over and you won't be able to change it because you don't know what it is. But telling the truth to psychologists is usually a bad bet because they can't handle it. They're not used to it. Psychologists are used to people who don't know the truth about themselves, and stumble around being hesitant and asking for help. Psychologists are used to people who give them three or four useful pieces of information in an hour-long appointment. Maybe. So if you just sit down there in front of them, open your mouth, and start spewing out the concentrated truth about the state of mind you're in, they just won't be able to see it. They want to figure it out themselves, and I think on some level they get irritated with you for figuring it out first
