Why does this make me so happy?

Yea! Second only (in my eyes) to The Incredibles, Monsters, Inc. gets a sequel!

Many will argue that Up or Wall-E deserve the title as Pixar's best movie, but for sheer wall-to-wall enjoyment (with no overarching adult-themed message and no dead wife), you can't beat the fun of Monsters. The best part of this is that unlike George Lucas, you can ( Read more... )

Eee, that's great! :D There may be a few Pixar movies I like more than "Monsters Inc", but I definitely think it's more suited for a sequel than any of them.

Would love to see a sequel to most of Pixar films, especially The Incredibles. I know Cars 2 is already in the works (which my oldest son is gonna flip), and I can see potential in Wall-E (really, only one ship was sent out for all of man kind?).

I did NOT like Up. It was sad and depressing, and I won't let my kids watch it.

I really liked Up and felt it (ultimately) had a pretty upbeat feel to it. But when you're going to make an elderly man the protagonist of your film, you almost cannot NOT touch on the subject of death, not to mention the first 8 minutes of that movie were among the most moving I've ever seen. I thought it was lovely, but yeah... not so much for the kids.

I agree that it is very moving, but wasn't quite in the mood for that, was expecting something just a *tad* bit sillier, especially considering the trailers with Doug (Squirrel!).

but considering that they introduced the love of his life, made sure they couldn't have a family, killed her and took all the joy out of this poor guy's life, then have the dogs basically be the bad guys in the movie (with the one exception), along with a couple of other points in the story, my 5 and 2 year olds just would not be able to handle that.

They love Cars, Nemo, Monsters Inc and Wall-E to death. Couldn't get them too much into the Incredibles, but my youngest just discovered Sueprman, so there is still hope :)

I'm quite fond of Wall-E, but I can understand feeling that it's a tad on the heavy handed side. I have no desire to watch Up after my girlfriends description of it over the phone to me. It frankly sounded like one of the more depressing movies I've heard of in a while.

But in general I tend to trust Pixar for quality. Having seen a copy of a revision page of edits done to George Lucas on Empire Strikes Back I think the answer is never get so big you don't think you need an editor.
