Luna had wandered out onto the grounds following the Nargles that she was able to see with her special goggles. As she followed them with her eyes she saw that they seemed to stop around a young man on the grounds.
She took her goggles off and stared at him for a moment. She recognized him as Drew Kirke from Gryffindor. He never really talked to her but he never seemed mean to her either. He seemed to be busy, but she wanted to talk to him to see if she could tell that his head was full of Nargles. If she could tell just by talking to people, then she'd be able to find them a lot easier than now.
She walked over to him, standing behind him for a long moment before sitting down next to him, making sure not to stare at his work. She always hated when people did that to her, but she really did want to talk to him.
For a long moment Drew hadn't even noticed anyone around him. He was entranced by his latest creation, which was mostly just a charcole sketch of the lake. But he took the time to carefully shade to add demention.
It wasn't until a breeze pulled in and he finally looked up that he noticed her from the corner of his eye.
"Luna, how long have you been sitting here?" he asked, almost laughing. "I didn't mean to ignore you."
Luna smiled dreamily and shook her head. "Oh no, I didn't think you were. I was just trying to see if I could tell you had Nargles in your head. But I believe they have left." She put her goggles on and then took them right off again. "Yes, they've left." She put the goggles into her bag and made herself more comfortable. "I believe that the creative juices that you produce make them flee."
She smiled at his picture. It was very good. "You know, I dabble a little in paint, but I'm not nearly as talented as you are. Though I'm quite gifted in clothing design. But only magically."
Drew smiled, enjoying the quirkiness that Luna offered. She was different and didn't try to hide who she was. It was refreshing.
"Do you have any of your painting here at school? I bet they're pretty wicked," he told her, imagining all of the creatures she would paint. "I've been sketching for years now. I wasn't very good in the beginning though. But now I have dozens of these books all filled up."
Harper pressed the palm of his hand on one of the stone doors of the castle making his exit known. Daniel had just came from serving the first of his detentions and was filled with dread about the next one.
'Daphne really thinks that about me, huh?' pondering his most recent encounter with his housemates. 'Draco didn't seem to mind, and that Hufflepuff got what she deserved'. Harper was clearly lost in thought and heading in the direction of the pitch to practice Quidditch some.
Daniel then adjusted the broom that was slung over his shoulder when his eyes widen at the site of a young Gryffindor boy who appeared busy sketching in his book. 'Oh how I hate these people. Gryffindorks' he thought to himself and debated to be polite or an ass he hesitated for a moment then thought about Daphne's pervious remarks.
"What are you drawing? Naked chicks?" Harper said as any male would say and strived to be polite to Andrew for a change.
Drew looked up from his sketchbook, confused. This boy wasn't familiar to him but that wasn't uncommon.
"What? No," he said, almost insulted by the question. Who would sit out here sketching naked girls out in public like that? Not that Drew had never played with the idea of drawing the human body (female, of course) but he much preferred landscape and buildings.
"I'm drawing the lake," Drew explained, more calmly, pointing out at the landscape.
"Oh, I thought that artist always drew naked chicks or sculpted them, at least. I don't know." shaking his head and looking up in the direction of the lake that was Drew's landscape.
"That looks real. Nice detail." Taking a quick look back at the sketch and then to the landscape.
"You know, I heard that one artist, what was him name, Van Gough was really placed under an unforgivable and that is why he cut his ear off. At least that is what I was told." Daniel said rambling trying be nice, in a deranged sort of way. Pausing for a second, he extended his hand
"Harper, Daniel Harper reserved seeker for Slytherin. Do you play Quidditch? I am heading to the pitch to practice, if play any?"
"Thanks," he said, looking at his sketch. It was one of his better pieces. Maybe it was the weather or the view.
"Andrew Kirk...you can call me Drew. I'm a backup beater for Gryffindor."
After years of practice, Drew couldn't manage to actually get in the game. He was clumsy and had poor timing. But year after year, he showed up for practice.

"I could use some extra practice."
