When the police went to evict them, I actually saw this fairly often. There were a few instigators in the crowd, throwing things at police and trying to turn things violent. Every single time, the crowd pretty ROARED "NO! WE ARE A PEACEFUL PROTEST!", and the person would back down, and the police would visibly relax.
