What's new in the world of Drew?

Short answer: Not much.

Longer answer:
* I've recovered from walking pneumonia, thanks to the wonderful antibiotics the ER doctor gave me. It's nice to walk without coughing up a lung. And I think I'm finally not completely exhausted. Pneumonia is a hard one to get over. My newest health concern is an extremely itch rash that showed up only on my arms, my cheeks and my ears. I haven't changed laundry soaps, fabric softeners, perfumes or creams and I haven't had any new food. I honestly can't pinpoint what could be causing it. The only thing I can think of (without medical tests) is a sudden sensitivity to the sun. The girls and I went for a walk after I'd picked Pinnie up from school, wearing a T-shirt and no hat or sunscreen. I can't even remember how soon afterwards the rash appeared. How odd. I have an appointment to discuss it with my doctor when we're in Ottawa next weekend. So, until then, I will wear long sleeves, sunscreen and a hat with the biggest brim I can find. I burn easily anyways, so even if I'm not *extra* sensitive to the sun, it's a good plan of action.

* As we live in BlackFly country and the girls love to play outside, we decided to buy a screen tent. Yay! We bought the largest one we could afford (11' x 14') and put it over our 4' x 8' sandbox. Now, I can put our adult swing in there and read in the comfort of shade and bug-less-ness, and the girls can get as dirty as their little hearts desire without getting eatten alive. Ah, life is good.

* We finally have a decent staircase to the basement! Ruggy managed to find some time with the contractor (Bruce) and for two mornings (as Ruggy was coming off nights, no less!), they worked for a few hours. Now, instead of multi-coloured, Tremclad painted, 11" apart, scary-as-all-get-out steps, we have a wonderful, new, wood-coloured, up-to-code staircase! And there was much rejoicing. I don't worry about carrying laundry baskets up and down anymore. I won't have to worry about the girls going up and down - they can't go yet, the basement is all dismantled and in the middle of being re-finished. We even have walls framed. =D

* Stampin' Up!(TM) workshops are going well. I still have to classes before the Stamper's 6 ends in June, another two regular workshops penciled in - one for May and one for June - and I have another one club possibly starting in July. If I could get another one started, it would ensure I had work until December '06. That would be wonderful. :)

* Thanks to my new best friend, the Fly Lady, (http://www.flylady.net), my kitchen and both bathrooms have been clean, organised and spotless for over a month now! I'm still in shock. And slowly, slowly, the rest of my house is tidying itself. Whee!

* Beanie's picking up more and more words every day. It's the highlight of my day to discover her new word. So far, she's got a fairly long list for a 16 month old. Since I'm convinced no one reads my LJ, I'm just going to put down all her words right here. Just try and stop me!

-I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now. Clever baby! And she still only has 8 teeth.

* Pinnie's started T-Ball this week. She had a ball practice on Tuesday and it was adorable - all those little 4 year olds running around the bases, yelling "FIRST! ... SECOND! ... THIRD! ... HOME!!" in a big crowd. It was almost like watching TimBit soccer. Once they started the first game, one little girl was running from third, and someone yelled, "Run home!" So, naturally, she changed direction and headed for her house! Too cute. As gymnastics ends in two weeks, Pinnie's really looking forward to playing T-Ball.

The girls are in bed, kitchen and bathrooms are clean, Mt. Washmore is under control and Ruggy's gone to the church to practise music with Chandica for tomorrow's Pie & Praise. Wish I could be there too, but someone's got to stay home with the kids. Since I'm just on vocal and PowerPoint, not lead guitar and lead vocal, I get HomeDuty. I think I'll start working on one of my stories now.

You scored as Serenity (Firefly). You like to live your own way and don't enjoy when anyone but a friend tries to tell you should do different. Now if only the Reavers would quit trying to skin you.

Heh.

Your Quirk Factor: 47%

You're a pretty quirky person, but you're just normal enough to hide it.
Congratulations - you've fooled other people into thinking you're just like them!
How Quirky Are You?

Why am I not surprised? This is why chandica and I get along so well, eh?
