Adventures in DLC: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed...

This weekend, I downloaded some content for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Downloaded the new Jedi Temple level where the Secret Apprentice learns a bit more about his past. That's how they tease it, anyway. So, is the new level worth some of your hard-earned Microsoft points? Hit the jump to find out...

I dug the hell out of The Force Unleashed. Yes, some of the controls were a bit fiddly, and like just about any third-person game, the camera got up to some annoying shenanigans from time to time, and it wasn't quite the game I'd envisioned, but it's still a damn fun ride and one of the best Star Wars stories in years, beating the hell out of the Prequel Trilogy, for me anyway. But in any event, a new level is available for download. It'll cost you 800 microsoft points, about 6 or 7 bucks, I think. For people that are fans of the game, it's worth it. I enjoyed getting to put the hurt back on a bunch of Imperials once again, and the new level throws a hell of a lot of them at you. I'll have to play back through the game again, but I'm pretty sure there are more Imps to blast, Force Throw, and chuck your Lightsaber at than in any other single level. The point of the level is to find a Holocron in the ruins of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant that contains info about Starkiller's father. In order to reach it, you have to fight your way through an Imp garrison stationed at the temple, as well as a room full of Jedi combat training droids that are still active(I'm guessing the imps never go in that room. heh). You also need to find away to get through the center hall of the ruined temple, but it's really not that tough a puzzle. I won't tell you what happens from there, but as I said, if you're a fan of the game already, there's no reason not to download this add-on. Graphics, sound, and play control are just the same as they are in the rest of the game, meaning great, great, and a little iffy at times, respectively. It's a chance to wreck some more imps in a new environment, and my guess is that this is just the first of several future downloadable levels to come to further flesh out the story of Starkiller. Pick it up.

Now, if you'll excuse me, there are some more Shadow Troopers that are just begging to be thrown into a wall.

May the Force Be With You, while you kick some ass. ;)
