Hey Chris, I hope Ireland is treating you well. I just wanted to say that, above anything, I love your writing style. It's very honest, informed, professional, and it has a nice flow to it. This is completely irrelevant to your post, but I felt compelled to comment.
I can't say I don't like newer Dylan material, but the only time I've really heard any of it was when I saw him in concert. And then, you can't hear what he's saying. He doesn't mumble anymore, he fucking growls and it sounds good on some songs, but he plays like two or three slow songs a show and it sounds very peculiar.
I'd have to say my favorite new Dylan track is "High Water For Charley Patton" from his Grammy award winning 2001 album 'Love and Theft'. It sounds hardcore on the bootleg from the first show I went to, I don't know about the studio version.
