My heavily modified PC is just over the minimum spec required for the Sims 3, not under it as I had previously assumed.

Will I ever get any work done, ever again?

You might still manage to get work done - although this is more because Widget has been telling me for the past few months all the ways Sims 3 is inferior to Sims 2.
