i keep writing in fits and spurts - sort of because i have to. it's partially to keep myself accountable, partially to share stuff with the people who seem to like my shared stuff, and partially a habit i want to keep. there are a lot of people who say things like "i'd totally post (in lj or on g+ or whherever), but it doesn't seem like there's anybody there." which is just bad logic, but whatever. it doesn't seem like that because nobody wants to be that one kid, posting into the ether all alone.
Facebook really has killed the blogging community, hasn't it?
Personally I ended getting rid of mine. It takes the mystery out of life.
And an anonymous blog helps. That way the chain of sharing doesn't spark off, and I can have a named profile elsewhere, completely unrelated. That way I can blog safe in the knowledge that all is well.
I personally hate facebook. I don't use my LJ much because no one uses it anymore. I really, really miss the ability to post my personal thoughts and images on LJ and receiving feedback without involving people in my real life. You can't post anything personal or private anymore AND anything you post in facebook then becomes fodder for advertisers and greedy executives. It's all very sad :(.

Everyone always tells me "LJ is dead." But it is definitely a more intimate space. I hope you will "do something about it."
That said, I think it's great that George Takei has found his place in the online world.
