RIP William Gelbart

My boss, Bill Gelbart, passed away this morning. He was the head and heart of FlyBase, and one of the grand old men of Drosophila genetics.

I'm told that it was peaceful, and that he was among his family and close friends.

Thanks. It's been a really hard week. I've been alternating between crying, and enraged at the unfairness of it, and speed-writing a paper. I'd be lost if we didn't have a paper to get out.

I just added the memorial that the GSA wrote for him, and an essay our other boss wrote about him a few years ago to this post.
