Just a little reminder about backdatingBackdating allows an posted entry to show up as normal on your journal, but not up on your friends' friendslists. I wondered about this cos I can't check if my journal posts show on the flist. You don't even have to change the date/time then? Cos I generally do just in case

Nope, you don't have to change the time and the date!

If you keep the time and the date 'correct', it will post to your journal completely like normal, but won't pop up on friendslists.

When you start manipulating the dates, that is when you start seeing stuff like some people have on their journal with a post that stays on the top, etc. More generally you see that kind of thing on private journals with entries like "Friends Only" posts, but some people here keep their voicemails, or a brief entry post, on top. That function does not work in communities, to my knowledge (screwing with the dates), although I've never investigated properly. :)
