Ten songs I have no business liking, yet I do:

1. Live - When Dolphins Cry.. I love this song. No Idea why. I Alone is a good song. This is not. But I love it so.
2. The Mighty Mighty Boss Tones - The Impression That I Get. This song is just too catchy. The "I just smoked two cartons of smokes, unfiltered" voice of Dicky Barret combined with the ( Read more... )

Busta Rhymes? Really?

After 10+ years, sometimes I think I know everything about you, and then something like this happens.

I've kept that one close to the vest. I was always disappointed in Busta's later releases. They just seemed derivative.

It's hard to not like a song that references Apollo Creed, GI Joe and Han Solo.

That's odd, I hate Blasphemous Rumors, but love People are People. And Enjoy the Silence is well, just an all around great song.

Actually, anything off "Violator" is pretty good.

Wonderwall is a great song, it just suffered from being extraordinarily overplayed.

"The Boy with the Arab Strap" is an incredible album. (And have you ever heard "Piazza, New York Catcher"?

/the VB joke about "the guy from Depeche Mode" being gay was x1000 funnier after seeing them live, because, wow.
//Belle & Sebastian are probably one of the tightest live bands I've ever seen.

Can I play with madness is off of Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. Bruce Dickinson's ego had gotten to the point where he thought he could pull off a concept album......and goddammit, he just about pulled it off. The whole album is about the life of a man that could see into the future, neither he nor society around him knows if that means he'll be their savior or destroy them all. So that's where the hellfire and prophets business comes from.

I screamed aloud to the old man,
I said, "Don't lie, don't say you don't know.
You'll pay for this mischief,
In this world or the next."
Then he looked at me with a frozen glance
and a hellfire raged in his eyes.
He said, "You wanna know the truth?***
I'll tell you the truth
Your souls gonna burn
in a lake of fire".

Actually....in my world that's pretty awesome in context or out of context.

Many argue that it's the best Maiden album. IMHO it's a fantastic fusion of metal and progrock.

Given your love of metal and progrock its a wonder that you never got into Tool. Maybe not the Undertow album, but Aenima or Lateralus.
