He's a sergant in the infantry. I know he's seen some action (mention being shot at, car bombed multiple times). Although I think he's also his troup leader or something.

As for the package, I think some things to do would be great. What about one of those little handheld games you can pick up at Walmart, you can get ones like Tetris or ones that have a ton of different casino games and they're relatively cheap/light. Also, maybe a nice pen and some paper for writing you letters? Some reading material? Some logic problems?
I think it's great what you're doing and I know he'll appreciate the package!
