Prompt 47: KILL
Warnings/Summary: Because scribe asked for it. Literally. ^_^ Or specifically for, 'Ace beats Blackbeard'. You don't know how I managed to force myself from making him beat BB in a cracky chess-game or something, scribe, so I hope you're happy!
Title: Insignificant
Teach is dead. Van Auger is dead. Jesus Burgess is dead. Doc Q is dead. Lafitte is dead. That damn horse is dead, although Ace never found out what is called (and doesn't give two shits about it, either).
It wasn't an honourable death for any of them - he stalked them for two days until they finally set sail, but he's glad he did. Teach had a Devil Fruit, a Logia from what he overheard, and much as Ace hates to admit it, he would have been seriously fucked if he'd blazed into a fight while ignorant.
So yeah, blowing their ship out of the water, in the dead of night, from a few hundred metres away? Not honourable. Ace doesn't give a crap. He's done worse things to better people, and Teach is a back-stabbing traitor. A nakama-killer. He didn't deserve an honourable death.
Ace's only regret is that he couldn't drag it out, but he's been following the bastards long enough, and he doesn't want sencho to think he's incompetent, does he?
He skims around the wreckage once, twice, thrice, and a fourth time just to make sure he's identified them all. Doc Q, the sickly sonofabitch, is somehow the only one left alive, clinging to some debris. Ace lazily flicks a finger and incinerates half the man's head.
Remains of bodies and ship float, bobbing innocently across gentle waves. Ace lingers a while, leaning back and contemplating what-might-have-beens, and then turns his skiff in the direction of the main fleet. Of home.
In the grand scheme of things, Ace supposes, already turning his mind to more important matters, Marshall D. Teach was a pretty insignificant player.
