I've never understood the big tabs with the disproportional tip thing. My gratuity is directly proportional to my dining experience and how much cash I have on me, but I don't like pulling a Mr. Pink. I can distinguish between what is the kitchen's fault and what is the waiter's and I try not to take it out on the waiter when I know they didn't have anything to do with it, but it can mean the difference between 10, 15 and 20 percent. Still there are just tightwads out there that will run up a bill and leave a dollar. Some people are just assholes.

So yeah, if you can afford the $113 bill for two people, you can afford another five bucks it takes to leave a decent tip.

There wasn't even anything wrong, which was the kicker... They loved everything, and I even set up a table specifically for them so they could have the one they wanted. And the woman paid...maybe that was the problem.

I didn't mean to imply that anything was wrong, I expected that everything went fine or the tip thing might have made more sense. As for the last bit, I'm not even going to touch that. My insight to the typical female rationale on these matters is nearly non-existent.

Is there some sort of global women conspiracy against tipping that men should know about?

I tend to find that women who are with their husbands/boyfriends, are waited on by a female server, AND pick up the check are the ones who are the worst tippers. I kinda sensed that I was doomed when she gave me her credit card.
