Honestly this was probably the stupidest idea of the century.
Why did she leave the safety of the library?
Because she couldn't sit around idly anymore.
Why hadn't she bothered to go through the process to get back into the barracks?
Basically the same reason. Mimmi was about to go insane waiting around for things to improve, and thus she was now wandering around the keep. It was a wonder she hadn't been infected yet, really. But no matter. She wasn't planning on staying out long, anyway.
And just her luck. On her way she found a Kevas. A badly beaten up Kevas. Mimmi stopped in her tracks several feet away, too paranoid to get any closer.
Derek'd been slinking around the groups of the keep, smelling blood and death everywhere, but unable to find anyone actually alive to take out his violence on. If he hadn't already been insane, it would have frustrated him and fueled his anger more.
But, fortunately, that would soon be rectified. He heard Mimmi's voice first, and his ears perked up, head turning in their direction. He sniffed the air, picking out the new scents amongst all the others, and immediately started for them.
Normally, he might have gone for the more subtle approach, crouching low and attempting to sneak up on them. But there was no one home to care about getting caught - the only thing on Derek's mind was bloodlust. He still moved silently, but he made no attempts to stay hidden. There was just a giant black wolf heading straight for them at a trot.
She wasn't the only one keeping her distance. Kevas stood a few feet away from her as well, if only so he didn't risk getting her sick too.
"Ladymon whatchu be doin' out here? Joo be needin' to head to da-" And then he saw it. A wolf was charging straight for Mimmi. For a moment he thought it might be Duran but no, he knew a hostile when he saw it. It was Derek. Kevas found him after all.
"Mimmi run fuh da quarantine!"
Kevas drew his swords and moved to intercept Derek.
Mimmi didn't know what to think for a split second. Kevas was yelling and then he had swords. But, well, she did as she was told.
She ran.
And it was only until she'd glanced behind her as she did so that she finally noticed Derek.
That wasn't good at all. But Mimmi knew it was better to keep going than to stop and make sure Kevas or whoever got out alright. As much as she wanted to stop and look again.
