seriously...the parts of Louisiana and Mississippi and Alabama that were hit are some of the poorest areas in the country...the average income for people in these areas was only $23k, which is like $9k below the poverty line...they were scraping by, doing what they could to begin with, and now they've lost everything. and anyone who uses the excuse that $5 isn't going to do anything should be smacked. hard. because if, say, everyone in the city of Jacksonville donated $5, well, that's $5 million right there...it does make a difference.
