I understand. Not that I am going through what my sister is going through now, but I feel like shit for her. I have cried a few times today knowing that she is so hurt. It's not something anyone deserves. She is my baby sister and I hate what he is doing to her, her son, and unborn child.

Sometimes it's helpful to maybe call the ones who don't care on their shit...like this guy I know. He would back away form the table at a restaurant when other people would deliberate over the bill. Was a large group of people, and I made a point to make people aware what happened last time at the next large gathering (he was absent). He made a point to shove the money under my nose when the check arrived at the next dinner.

I was an asshole about it, but he complied. He paid his share.

Good call. However, while calling people on their bullshit always makes me feel better, it won't help me in my particular situation at hand.

But it does feel good to call attention to the shitty things people do, especially when they are sure they will get away with it.

You are the most genuine and altruistic person that I have met and known in an incredibly long time. I am grateful for how much you care about others, both because you have allowed me the trust to confide in you with my shit too many times and you give me hope to know that there are still good and decent folk out there on this rock.

Sure, selfish folk get to be selfish and unmoved, but what else do they have? Nothing. Other than dying a little each day wishing they could be better and not knowing where to start or to have someone care for them in ways they have only imagined.

I know times have been tough for you and your gorgeous girl lately and my thoughts are with you both truly. Hold on, hang in there and be exactly who you are because I have no doubt you will come out on top. Temporarily a little weather-worn and frazzled, but ultimately a better, strong you. If that is even possible.
