It's not easy being a student again but, this time, I won't quit without my degree. Eight years after dropping out of college to raise my three kids, I returned in January of 2009. It hasn't been easy but I don't regret it a bit ( Read more... )

Thanks, I'll need it. Taking 9 hours this semester.

It's not huge (making an A) but it was to me, especially after being out of school for so long.

Oh, no it IS HUGE getting an 'A'. Well done!

In a former lifetime I taught mature students who'd all dropped out of school at 16 and then fought to come back, finishing high school and then going on the get a BA.

They were all wonderful.

They didn't all get 'A's but they all worked so hard and really appreciated the chance to study and learned so fast. They were much better students than 18 year olds going straight through from school to college.

I am sure your tutors really enjoy having you in their classes. Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations! My mother went through a similar struggle and got her PhD in Physics with three children and a husband pulling 10 hour days 5 days a week. It was hard but we all pulled together and she's done fantastic. Keep going, you know what hard work is and you'll be able to do great!

Also, thank you for writing about it, it was nice to share this story with you.
