This is brilliant! I completely LOLed at the double entendre of "B.S." :D Excellently written! And I am also extremely impressed with how quickly you wrote it!

I had a lot of time to think, I guess. I try to catch the prompt as soon as it is posted, and then kick it around in my head in every spare moment until I write.

That's one thing I love about Idol, the prompts give me something to think about. Keeps my mind off other (maybe more depressing?) thoughts. It's fun to create.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I often wish I were more humorous, so at least this time a "funny bit" worked :)

Your kind words mean a lot. Thanks!!

I love how you illuminated the secret life of trees. Well done.

Oh the stories they could tell...

I often wonder the history of the items in my life.

Thanks so much for reading and commenting!

This was cute and sad - I enjoyed reading it a lot, and it reminds me of a conversation I was just having with my husband last week where we were musing about what the trees by the highway would think of us if they were sentient. As sad as B.S.'s story can be, I do like that in your world, their memories are retained in the furniture, rather than the cutting down of the tree being the end of its life. It seems a little more hopeful that way.

I love the idea of a tree's life being written into its' bark. This story was bittersweet, but fun too.
