I had an online friend who taught in a similar school situation on the East Coast. I remember the stories she told - I felt so sorry for so many of her students that seemed to have fallen through the cracks.

My friend is doing great, thanks. She moved to New Hampshire and teaches in a general public school now with very active young people who keep her on her toes.

That sounds like a very hard profession to have, and I think that people who are strong enough to work in that kind of environment and who really care about the kids and want the best for them are amazing.

Oh this was heartbreaking. I used to tutor in an inner city school and I loved it, but it was so hard. It sounds like you really made an impact, but sometimes it's so hard to reach kids in that environment.
