21 going on 80

I feel like I missed my ideal decade by about 60 years. I'm old fashioned. I'm TOO old fashioned. I belong with the mobsters from the '40's who walk around in suits and fedoras every day, tipping their hats at the ladies and shaking hands with other gentlemen, then going home at night to their wife, on whom they'd never think of cheating and ( Read more... )

Dev. come now, those times that wish you to be a part of never existed - except for movies.

I completely understand what you mean about the whole love/sex things. Sex to some people is their way of shaking hands...so, then what??

it's actually really sad.

the word 'love' has definitely changed. We should come up with new one!

I'm glad you agree with me. Every day I find out we're more and more like one another. I'm all about creating a new word, but unlike when I'm dreaming, I'm not all that creative with language

I think the problem was that I had TOO MUCH outside input on the subject, all of which made me feel the way I do and prompted me to write this. I understand what you mean by my romantic concept applying to my own relationship, and I DO that, and certainly hope it doesn't go unrecognized, though from a long distance, it's difficult. I meant this assessment more as a social commentary (or maybe to admit how socially inept I am). And I think I used fashion anecdotes as emphasis, but I do like to dress nicely. Most often I get looks of "why is he all dressed up?" and that's just with a collared shirt and slacks.

Thanks for your response. good to hear more sides to the case.

I'm down with the Mike input/output protocols.
I, myself, tend to avoid social commentary in the scope of worldliness. Maybe what you say is true, but I think it is true in midwest-college-town sort of sense. The point is: it will drive you close to madness if you obsess about the ohter lost souls - those who have loose morals and lost weekends. I want to be happy in this life. I think most philosophies and such will arrive at the same conclusion. So if those silly fools think they will be happy in the activities they choose, then I'm not going to step in their path. I probably won't associate with them, but I'm out to make my own happiness. And that's what I'm concerned with.
