[Background] The series doesn’t offer much in terms of Haruko’s actual past, but it can be assumed that she is an alien from somewhere in a galaxy far, far away in space and that she is constantly chasing the "Pirate King" Atomsk because she wants his N.O. power, which is large enough to steal entire galaxies. She is apparently an investigator for the Galactic Space Patrol Brotherhood, though her quest for Atomsk’s power takes precedent over her duties as an investigator, making her a bit of a renegade.
In this particular endeavor, Haruko chased Atomsk to the Japanese suburb of Mabase, where a mysterious organization called Medical Mechanica was holding Atomsk captive. There, she ran over twelve-year-old Nandaba Naota with her vespa. At first she thought that she killed him, but once she realized that he was A-OK, she hit him over the head with her bass guitar, hoping to open an N.O. channel. Pissed that it didn’t work immediately, she drove off...and promptly ran over Naota’s father. Somehow, she used this to become a live-in housekeeper at the Nandaba family bakery.
This was the start of a bit of a downward slide for Naota, as Haruko took every opportunity to hit on or torment Naota, either to activate the N.O. channel in his brain or to cause him to develop feelings for him that she could abuse later on. Hey, it worked. At random intervals, new robots would spontaneously come out of Naota’s head and battle whatever happened to be in the way.
The first thing to emerge from Naota’s skull was Canti, a Medical Mechanica robot. Once Haruko broke his head, he wasn’t good for much more than dishes, but he also became a channel for Atomsk’s power when Naota was used as a catalyst.
Under the guise of wanting to earn some extra money to help the household, Haruko signed on with the local baseball team, the Mabase Martians, where she continuously tried to knock down a satellite with her home runs. At the same time, she attempted to seduce Nandaba Kamon (Naota’s father) in order to use his head for her purposes, but accidentally killed him in the process. She created a robot of him, which Naota attacks in a jealous rage, and the real Kamon comes back to life when Naota gives him a sponge bath. There must be something in the water at the Nandaba household :Ua
Meanwhile, Commander Amarao of the Department of Interstellar Immigration, who had a relationship with Haruko (known as Haruha Raharu to him) similar to Naota’s relationship with her, has come to Earth to stop her from breaking the universe. They duke it out briefly, but were distracted when the satellite Haruko hit with her home runs started falling to Earth. Haruko took Naota to the top of the Medical Mechanica plant and pulled a Gibson Flying V guitar from his head, telling him to "swing the bat". Together, they knocked the satellite back into space and saved Mabase! For now.
After that, Haruko turned her primary focus to Naota, causing Kamon and Naota to get into a father-son jealously feud over her. When Naota is later confronted about his relationship with her, the largest robot yet erupts from his head. He and Canti fused and defeated it with Atomsk’s power, much to Haruko’s surprise. After that, Haruko went missing for several days, but she returned for Naota’s help in releasing Atomsk from Medical Mechanica. And then she got sucked into Somarium.
[Personality] Haruko is, above all else, incredibly selfish. She’ll do anything she has to-lie, cheat, lead on innocent shotas, WHATEVER IT TAKES-to get what she wants, when she wants, just because she wants it. The world revolves around her and her desires and her needs. To that extent, she’s actually pretty manipulative. Hey, anyone that can avoid interstellar police pursuit and run two people of the same family over with a Vespa at high speeds and still smooth talk her way into their home has to be pretty good at something. If she’s doing something that isn’t for that goal, she’s just doing it for the lulz/to get a funny reaction out of people.
Actually, about...98 percent of the time, what Haruko does makes no sense. There’s always a connected train of thought, but she never shows it. And Haruko is really freaking wacky because of it. She does a lot of zany, weird things at a high speed and with some serious over-acting involved. Why? Probably because a) it’s funny to her and b) nobody’s gonna suspect the crazy pink-haired chick that nobody understands of trying to unleash utter doom on the world unless they’ve already seen her do it once or twice. She’s incredibly energetic and spontaneous, and while there’s a method to her madness, she keeps it hidden behind a veil of her own unpredictability.
Haruko also has very little concept of social norms. Personal space? Tact? Shame? What are those? She’ll use her body and her mind to get closer to her goals, but she also has bad table manners :| She’s an odd one, all right.
[Specialties/Abilities] Haruko has the power to open N.O. channels, basically a type of channel that uses the brain to open portals to other places in space, allowing stuff from elsewhere to go through no matter what the size. It seems to be activated when she hits someone in the head with her guitar, but not every head is N.O.-positive. You have to find the right one. She also seems use it to fly. On top of that, she’s crazy strong and crazy fast; she can knock satellites back into space like it's just a baseball and can run/drive/whatever circles around the average person. Unfortunately for whoever she thinks can help her, she's also pretty damn smart. It may not seem like she's got a reason for what she does, but there's always a thought process behind it. She just doesn't let it show.
Uhhh OBVIOUSLY N.O. ACTIVITY SHOULD NOT RUN RAMPANT IN A PLACE LIKE THIS. So. Headbumps from Haruko shall have no effect unless there is mod clearance. Or never >_>
