[Quatre's Sphere has obviously been turned on for a purpose. He's seated in his cabin, staring directly into it.]Fellow passengers, I have come to a very disturbing conclusion due to the recent events we have witnessed and I had hoped to discuss this with you. Perhaps through this I can verify that my fears are wrong, that I am simply being ( Read more... )

A test designed for us, or a test designed for Ganymede and those on board the ship when this started? I don't believe we've ever been the focal point, not as experimental subjects. Ganymede and Orion both didn't believe we were anything more than what they expected -- that is to say, passengers who willingly bought tickets for the Crucible -- and yet Orion, at least, showed shock when he realized we weren't just phantoms caused by the anomaly that keeps this ship circling through time.

That is a very good point. Perhaps the intention was to use the black hole to bring the Crucible to another dimension, not to bring people from other dimensions here. The kind of mistake that could do that, could most likely cause the anomalies as well.

[ He nods. ]

It is possible.

[Oliver looks distinctly uncomfortable]

...that makes a horrible amount of sense.

I feared that was the case. Though there are many other reasons why this could have happened, this is the one that I continue coming back too.

It'd finally explain why we're all here. [sighs]

Hey, I know we've talked before, but I don't think I ever caught your name. I'm Oliver.

It's nice to meet you Oliver, I'm Quatre. [He's usually unbelievably polite and is embarrassed that he allowed this situation to change that.]

I couldn't help listening to other conversations though...[Cue a slight blush as he gets more embarrassed.] The Doctor was discussing that it might have to do with a time oriented experiment. That could work as well, though I'm not familiar with alternate dimensions or time.

[taps his chin, listening to that.] Hmmm, I wouldn't say it's gotten to your head. That's a reasonable assumption, certainly.

But would you like to hear another theory?

I appreciate the reassurance. I would certainly like to hear another theory, it's probably best that we air as many as possible, who knows which one could be correct.

[takes a deep breath] Well, the experiment aspect is plausible, like I said, however, I think our being here is a result of that experiment and Ganymede and Co.'s meddling in the affairs of time when they had no damn right to. Humans don't perfect time travel for hundreds of years, and just from the looks of the technology around the ship, I'm perhaps being too giving ( ... )

That does indeed sound like it's plausible.

I do wonder why he can't ignore us now, why we can suddenly remember. Even why Orion can't.

This is an interesting theory. Still, I can't help but wonder what it was that was supposed to remembered from the last time loop... what Orion was trying to tell us as we crossed the event horizon.

Perhaps we should make a list of all theories, see if we can find one that explains everything.

[nods]

That would be prudent.

Orion mentioned illusions, that they thought we were illusions, but discovered we weren't. That must be significant... perhaps even linked to the experiments these phantoms of the crew seem to be discussing. The passengers, however, don't seem to be part of those who were informed.

It occurred to me that perhaps they thought we were phantoms in the way that those around us now are phantoms.

…I don't think you're wrong. [she does not look pleased with this.]

Whether the previous evacuation was to clear way for us I don't know, though. It didn't sound as though it was that way, but… I'm not sure what other explanation there would be. … Some kind of fail-safe, possibly.

I thought that the evacuation could have been on purpose from something that Orion told me when we were able to speak with him. The Captain refused to try to keep the people here, and his actions seem to be an attempt to scare others away, unless he was already that far gone so early.

That's interesting. If he was still of his own mind then… or mostly, at least… perhaps it was some kind of damage control.

Though that doesn't improve matters here much. If he's got enough of himself now perhaps we might get something out of him that'd help, but it doesn't seem likely.
