Finally the SGC sends us a botanist who isn't either old enough to be my Grandfather, or senile enough to think he is. Welcome, welcome welcome to our Mad world.

Hope you've settled in--I noticed you already have a workstation set up, a lab over from the one I'm in most of the time. Everyone pretty much keeps to themselves around the botany labs, unless we get a stray engineer or chemist down. I noticed you're biology, so we might actually see one another on occasion.

Watch out for Katie Brown-she's small and loud, you'll know her when you see her. If she propositions you, don't panic-it's just her way of saying hello. Well, hello, goodbye, how's your Grand-père...I'm actually not sure there's a situation that Katy can't work a proposition into ( ... )

Heh, don’t worry, I promise not to act like a grandfather to you or anyone else, I tend to act my age.
Most of the time at least...
Thank you for the welcome, I really like this Mad World of yours.

Actually, I am a biologist, not a botanist, although it can be an easy mistake since nearly all I have been doing since I set up down here involves plant-forms. (It’s all quite interesting really)
Do you happen to know anything about the man-eating plant one of the teams brought back? I’m currently studying samples of it.

Thank you for offering your help, I would not want to bother you much, but it is nice knowing that there is someone I can ask. If you ever need anything, I hope I can help too.
As for the spores…
It’s not easy, being green.

Walking into the mess hall, Katie noticed the new botanist Davey had mentioned. He seemed to be having a pretty friendly conversation with one of the new nurses but she went up to them anyway.

"This seat taken?" She asked, with a dazzling smile.

"Dr. Brown, what've I told you about intimidating the new people?" Chuck asked, walking up to stand beside Katie, tray in hand.

Jeremy paused in his eating when he heard the other’s voice, and looked up at her. For a moment he looked thoughtful, saying “No, please…sit.” He nodded to one of the empty chairs, the motion causing a chunk of long hair to fall into his face, “You must be Dr. Brown?”
He then turned to Chuck and said, “I’m not intimidated in the least.” He paused, shoving the offending bit of hair out of his eyes, “Just a bit startled.” His eyes drifted to the tray he carried, “and please, join us.”

Greetings!

Please allow me to introduce myself and welcome you to Atlantis. I am the Director of City Systems and Resources. Our department works closely with Engineering and Ancient Technology Research. We cover everything from the desalinization and waste processes to the power systems for our Puddle Jumpers and the Orion. Please feel free to contact our department if anything does not work for you, or fails to work normally after gene therapy/determination testing. My door is always open for questions, and I hope to see you at the welcome dinner. Welcome to Atlantis Colony!
