Since the only people I want to read it are here on my LJ, I figured I'd go ahead and pimp this thing. I even made a story banner. It took forever to figure out the low-pass filter in Gimp, but I think I've got it down now.
You know I enjoyed it already. The underlying secrets hiding behind the banal existence he'd found himself in kept the plot moving along while leaving the reader in suspense. The ending was perfect, too. Leaving it open like that gives the reader the chance to finish themself, or accept that life isn't always clean-cut, and some answers always elude us.
Since you hate compliments without something to temper the sweetness, the apostrophes around the thoughts irritates me mildy. Okay, more than mildly. But I still enjoyed the story even if I wanted to pluck them off the screen. ;P
