I think Matt Taibbi (from Rolling Stone) is getting it. Here's a link to his latest column, but I wanted to call out this paragraph in particular:

I'd grin at the image of Slim Pickens riding a bomb down into Wall Street, but I think it's still too soon after 9/11 to be making "bomb Wall Street" jokes.

I think ten years is plenty of grace period for that kind of imagery, and personally feel that anybody still foaming over it after 5+ is both doing a disservice to the memory of those lost, and doing it because they get some sort of strange satisfaction over holding a grudge or playing the victim.
