i´m looking for a good pop song in the past tense that is singable and would appeal to the middle-aged set.

is Yesterday -- among the most singable melodies in the world, and at least some past tense verbs. I'll keep thinking though...

that would be a logical one... i tend to block it out because i hate the song so much.
