PHP/MySQL images into database

So, spent the better part of today trying to insert images into a database. Tried a few scripts from the intarweb, and finally got one that was close enough that I could fix it and make it work. There were some stupid things in it, though. The first page, for example, never left the upload section. It had a conditional that it never satisfied

Not true. The variables were never declared to be global.

My mistake. It is disabled by default, and from what I can see, for good reason. I think if I had discovered that earlier, I still would have rewritten it. Thanks for the heads up, though.
