Wish I had more time to watch even half of the shows on that list.

I find that neglecting really important things to watch TV, helps me keep up with shows. :)

Lol! Damn, why didn't I think of that pearl of wisdom. Finally I know where I've gone wrong all the time! ;)

Watch (seriously watch) 5 of 'em, have dabbled in one or two (L&O: SVU marathons, how they suck you in), and a couple are on my to do (at some point) list.

Recs -- Arrested Development (I can't NOT recommend this show), and Sports Night, which is to my past what House is in my present (and oh, such slashy goodness; Dan/Casey are so very House/Wilson).

Dan/Casey are so very House/Wilson

Aren't they, though? It just occurred to me that I could probably get another friend of mine to watch House, by putting it that way--she loves Sports Night too.

Absolutely! Best friends, one being a factor in the other's troubled marriage (in some capacity), "vaguely gay," pantlessness -- the list goes on! There's a bit of an OT3 parallel, too, with Dana thrown into the mix. Good times! (I'm totally iconing SN at the moment, too.)

the list goes on!

Psychological issues, missing brothers, overbearing/abusive fathers.....yes, it does go on! In all the best ways.

(I'm totally iconing SN at the moment, too.)

Oh, yay! I need to come over and shop, I've just got the two SN icons that I won't drop. (It's just so hard to drop any House ones to add more.)

I only checked two shows - House and Mad Men. I have seen and enjoyed others, like Six Feet Under, but haven't had the focus to finish the series. I tried Battlestar Galactica, and enjoyed the character stuff very much, but found the spaceships and sci-fi-techie stuff to be overwhelming and off-putting. I'll eventually give it another try, I'm sure.

I haven't tried Doctor Who or Torchwood due to time constraints, but I'm sure I'll like them once I get to them.

Oh, one more rec that wouldn't fit in the box - How I Met Your Mother. Usually, I stay pretty far away from comedies, but I've found myself loving this one.

For whatever reason it takes me a LOT of effort to get into shows. (With the rare exception, like House).
I definitely know what you mean about BSG being overwhelming...it's just very tense all the time. I really want to make an effort to watch it. So I'll get through the first season and decide if I want to keep going.
I really didn't like Torchwood/Doctor Who when I started watching them, however, I stuck with them (and tried not to take them super-seriously) and then I *really* enjoyed them.
