Lately, Jill has been bouncing Betty Lavette's "Let Me Down Easy," from the Shaolin Soul Vol. IV collection, probably the track that has caught my ear most from said comp. Inez is the winner, for my money. You can't fuck with those whining slow attack guitar leads and those fucking blue notes she hits on those stretched out cries.
Although, I like Bettye's pizzicato strings and indusrial-ass disco drums. I don't know... if it's a cage match, I gotta go with Inez.

Shit, actually, my new fav is the Bettye version Jill posted. That simmering tension is like worse than watching a movie where the girl is maybe going to kill michael douglas. Awesome!
