I bow out of a lot of my friends' parties for similar reasons. I'm 5-10 years older than most of my friends, and there's just this massive gulf between me and them on things like parties (and, in all honesty, I worry that two or three of them are partying it up WAY too much). And I wasn't really the partying type when I was their age to begin with.

Neither was I so even the idea of a "big" party is kind of foreign to me. I felt bad that I got a text from one of the girls last night that I wasn't there but I don't know, I'm much better in small groups even with an age divide than being "that older person"...even if it's mostly just in my head.
