Well, the
NJ Smoke Free Air Act passed.
Not entirely suprising. I'd be interested as to whether a bar owner who didn't want to comply with this order could challenge it based on the exception for casinos, but it seems unlikely anyone will try, much less succeed.
If today is the date of enactment, that makes Memorial Day May Day "last call".

Personally, I think it would be cool if there were some bars still able to smoke. Maybe get a licenece or something, but I’m sure that wouldn’t go over well either. Hey, if New York can do it, so can jersey.
Long time, no post for you. Are you gonna be at DREAMATION next week?

It bothers me when bar owners want to go against the law, when it comes to smoking in their bar.
I know it sucks and, from my expierence, most people in a bar smoke so it would be hard to instill that rule. But iut really does suck, especially when the bar is some tiny place.
I recently went to a bar that actually allowed smoking. It didn't bother me for awhile, I used to smoke, I know smokers, it's not a big deal for me. But when the room actually filled with smoke AND my eyes were watering, that was the last straw for me. We had to leave. Later on, when I got home I found out that EVERY article of clothing I was wearing actually smelled like smoke. Seriously. Shirt, bra, pants, panties. All.
(yeah. long comment.)

I was musing as to whether a bar owner might have legal grounds for the challenge, as individual smokers definitely don't. I think, given the casino / cigar bar exceptions, that it wouldn't hold up - it'd need to be comprehensive or, all or nothing.

I can think of only one that doesn't around me, and it opened 2 weeks after that law was signed, so they figured they'd just be ahead of the game.

All.'s a typical Friday night for me - I reek when I get home. I'm not saying smoking is great, or that this is a terrible law that will do horrible things. I'm whining because it's yet another place I can't do exactly what I want, when I want. It's horribly selfish of me ( ... )

I don't think bars owners here have legal grounds for a challenge. Apparently we have he strictest no smoking law in the US.
