Hard drive woes

Jan 12, 2010 14:17

I've apparently lost a hard drive that had a lot of data on it. The shop where it is now says they can't seem to recover anything, can't access it, and are recommending a data recovery shop. Any thoughts on what I might be able to do to get it to work? The drive is passive and just couldn't be accessed one day. :(

Have you tried putting it in your freezer? Some techs I know swear by it - they state it realigns the crystals in the drive and can slow data breakdown.

I have not tried that, no. Not sure if it will work now or not, but I'm open to the chance that it does.
