Waiting tables emphasizes the importance of the Poker Face. No prejudice is allowed here. Amen to all of that. I used to be a cashier and it's exactly the same, except you don't comment on what they're buying. Most of the time it's pretty boring...but once I realized that the same customer who came in every freaking Sunday to buy the week's groceries for her family, had never ever bought a single item of fresh produce. Very disturbing.

Being a vegetarian and an environmentalist and against sweatshop labor often made it hard to work at Fred Meyer.
