You have some fantastic sentences here! I love this one for being so evocative of both Emma's outfit and of Lassiter's POV: Her clothes were dark and loose, billowing around her like a cloud of black chiffon. It was a look that hadn’t been big since Stevie Nicks was singing songs about a Welsh witch.

And this one made me laugh out loud: These fake-physics probably had some secret Illuminati-esq society that they all belonged to, complete with secret handshakes, where they traded names and addresses of easy marks. They probably had a better union than he did.

Very funny stuff, and I like the set up of the case!
