The number is unfamiliar, which makes Leander answer all the quicker. "Hello?"
It's not like he might as well have said John??????, but the hope is there in his voice, hoarse as it is. Someone immediately fusses at him in the background.
"Hi!" No, that's not Harvestman. This voice is much squeakier. He sounds like a cartoon. "Umm, is this Leander?" Valid question: if he died, someone else would clearly be answering his phone. He has been in the same room as the guy... more than once, but he can't recall it now.
