Mediocrity

Is mediocrity the inevitable result of all relationships after a certain period of time? Is the day to day mediocrity all there really is once you get past the warm and fuzzy feelings? When all the excitement fades away, what is a relationship, really? Should the mediocre be enough?

First of all... do you watch Sex and the City? Because this post makes you sound just like Carrie Bradshaw... haha, I love it.

Secondly: I have now been in a relationship for 4.5 years, and it is my experience that there is a long period of mediocrity which, if you can get past it, turns back into something fairly exciting again (if you split the difference between the craziness at the beginning and the mediocrity, that place in the middle is where you eventually end up).

This has just been my experience. I'm sure it's different for everyone.

I'm sure you're right. I have a wonderful man who would do anything for me, but we're both overworked, hardly see each other, and it just seems like going through the motions sometimes. But we do love each other and he used to spoil me. I guess we're just in a rut. It has been a year and some odd months. I hope it gets better from here.

And by the way, I do watch Sex and the City. I kinda thought that after I wrote it. And thanks for the encouragement Krissy.
