Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

As far as Meredith is aware, the whole bachelorette party thing, with its ancient and hallowed mythology of abundant alcohol and strippers, is pretty overrated. On the one hand, even if all that were true, even if they were this big rite, this last chance at freedom or whatever - a concept which, in itself, would make her want to run the other way ( Read more... )

Mary Jane had no misconceptions about the fact that she just wasn't the bachelorette party type. Never a heavy drinker and not interested in looking at mostly naked other men or playing games that would have appealed more to girls of the elementary school age, she'd never seen much of a point, in theory or the first time around. Of course, before that wedding, she'd spent the evening sulking while her friends got trashed and hardly noticed her displeasure, due in part to the fact that she'd done all she could do hide it. This was different in so many ways, a week before what she was already certain was the greatest decision she'd ever made, and she could hardly object to hanging out with arguably her two closest friends on the island. "Hey ladies," Felicia greats the phrase rolling easily off her tongue. She has never done this sort of thing before but she has never really had girl friends before this. Oh she's had girlfriends but most platonic relationships didn't end well for her.

Figures that it would be with Red especially after the year they've had. Sliding into a chair she grins at the drinks. "I see things are all set. Most excellent."

"It's my job," Meredith tells Mary Jane, grinning as Felicia arrives. She may not really know her, but that's got no bearing on things tonight. This whole process may, after all this time, still feel totally beyond her, but she's determined that Mary Jane enjoy herself. That she's getting a night out on top of it doesn't hurt. "So the gang's all here. Hi, Felicia."

"Felicia," Mary Jane said, tilting her head in greeting. With all of them here now, it occurred to her that this was something of an odd group, the best friend she'd fucked up majorly by telling a big secret to and her fiancé's ex, but there was, when it came down to it, no company she would have rather preferred for something like this. "Alright, well, here goes. Hypothetical last night of freedom."
