The Bells are Ringing

Even though she's more eager than she cares to admit to see how her dress came out, Meredith pushes on through her classes before she goes to see Ianto and pick it up. That Sookie's suggestion wound up working out doesn't surprise her; if anything, she feels silly for not having thought of it sooner, but that doesn't matter now. She has the dress, ( Read more... )

"In here," Sean calls before finishing up with the rough measurements he's been making and exiting Meredith's makeshift office. It was oddly refreshing, at first, having the banality of island life once more be the biggest problem in his life, but it got old fast, and now he's getting back on the wagon of finding whatever small ways he can to fight it, to keep it at bay. Right now, that consists of taking rough measurements for a bookshelf. It might even make a decent wedding present, so that's two birds with one stone, right there.

"Have a good day?" he asks as he approaches to give her a kiss, but the bundle in her arms makes him pause before he gets too far. "Is that...?"

"Don't look," Meredith says, swatting at his hand, even though it's folded enough that it's not like he can distinguish much about it and it isn't as if it's elaborate or anything. "We don't need any bad luck. It is, yes. It's the dress, and you're not supposed to see it yet."

She sighs, though she's smiling, satisfied with the fact of this. Though they've been ready for a while now, this feels like a sudden lurch forward, like things are finally happening. "We can pick a date and everything. What were you doing in there?"

Sean rolls his eyes with a chuckle, trying not to get too excited over the prospect of a dress. It hardly seems manly. "Since when are ye the superstitious type?" he asks, though he does find himself pointedly averting his gaze from the white cloth in her arms without really meaning to. "Was jus' snoopin' 'round, it hardly matters now. This is great, Meredith, we've jus' got ta work out the last few details an' we're good ta go!"

"I'm not taking any chances," Meredith says, laughing as she steps around him to head for her office. It'll be better to keep it in there, she figures. Darting a glance back at him over her shoulder, she grins. "A few. We still haven't settled the wedding party, the date, the officiant, cake, music, food, what we're doing after - it's a lot of details." But at least they can settle in to take care of that now, and it has to go by much faster here where options are limited than it did before, surely.
