Yunho/Yoochun | R
he was supposed to meet Changmin; not Yunho
Jaejoong thinks it about time Yoochun socializes; Yoochun thinks Jaejoong needs to mind his own business.
“It’s been four years since you last stepped into a club, Yoochun.” Jaejoong says, plopping on to Yoochun’s sofa and makeshift bed. “You need to stop living like a hermit and move on.”
Yoochun rolls his eyes, saunters out of his kitchen with two mugs of freshly brewed coffee and hands a mug over to Jaejoong; “Thanks.” Jaejoong mumbles and takes a sip. “But seriously, Yoochun, you need to get out more. You can’t just stay anti-social all your life; you have got to go out and meet people, socialize, hook-up with good looking people, you know?”
“No.” Yoochun replies without missing a beat and Jaejoong sighs. “Whatever. Call me when you feel like you want to know which year you are living in.”
Yoochun smiles, “I love you, Jaejoong.”
“Whatever.”
+
Jaejoong’s set him up on a blind date; he’s an annoying asshole like that.
“I hate him.” Yoochun mumbles when Junsu’s standing at his doorway smiling brightly and holding shopping bags. “He sends you his love and some new clothes.” Junsu holds up the bags. “He’s going to be here in another fifteen minutes so why don’t you just change?”
“I don’t want to.” Yoochun growls, pulls his hoodie over his head and walks over to his work room. “I have to compose a song for Kibum and day after is my deadline.”
“Lies.” Junsu chides and points to the post it note that’s hanging above Yoochun’s computer; it says in bold letters, kibum’s song to be completed by 17th; Yoochun fighting! . “And today is only the seventh.” Junsu smiles and dumps the bags on the floor and manhandles Yoochun to the bathroom. “Go shave.” Junsu says, pushing Yoochun in. “Shave, wash yourself and wash yourself some more. God alone knows when you had a bath last.”
Before Yoochun can protest, the door slammed on his face and he is left with no choice but to wash himself and shave. He stares at himself in the mirror, the man in the reflection looks nothing like Yoochun had imagined himself to look like. His hair is all over the place, his stubble looks ugly on his cheeks and chin and there are coffee stains on his shirt; he looks ill.
Yoochun lets out a sound of frustration and washes his face and pulls out a brand new razor (thank God for Jaejoong and his random outbursts of shopping) from the bathroom cabinet. “Alright Yoochun, you can do this.” He sighs to himself.
+
He looks alright, if he can say so himself; Jaejoong’s clothes fit him like second skin, his hair is sitting alright and isn’t going haywire like how it usually does; he looks alright.
“You look fabulous.” Jaejoong grins, eyes on the road. He steers his Audi through the traffic with ease. “You will love this guy; you will love him.” Jaejoong says. “He’s a PR Analyst and works for this advertising company and he is gorgeous.”
Yoochun shifts uncomfortably in the passenger seat; “At least tell me his name?”
“Changmin, Shim Changmin.”
“How will I know what he looks like?” Yoochun questions.
“Please, Yoochun. Do you doubt my taste in men? The moment you lay your eyes on him you’ll know who he is.”
“Right.” Yoochun scoffs.
“Will you stop being so judgemental? You’re not even on the damned date yet.” Jaejoong scolds Yoochun, a deep frown etched across his face.
“I am not being judgemental.” Yoochun says, eyes growing wide in shock. “I just wanted to know what the guy’s name was.”
“Oh please, Yoochun. I have known since we were in middle school. You’re already deeming this date a disappointment, I bet you my underwear that you’ve already dumped this guy.”
“No.” Yoochun argues back, fidgets with the seat belt and looks out of the window and hates how right Jaejoong is. “Yes, alright fine.” He says - whispers, actually. “You’re right, I will give this date a try.”
And the way Jaejoong’s smiling, Yoochun wants to slap it off.
+
“You must be Yoochun, right?”
Yoochun turns at the sound of someone addressing him and for a split second he loses his sense of speech because this man is gorgeous; tall with thick, dark brown hair; the suit he wears compliments his body and his legs seem to go on forever. His shapely nose and curved eyes give his face an aristocratic edge.
“Yes.” Yoochun smiles, once he’s found his voice. “You must be Changmin, I assume?”
“No, I am Changmin’s friend. Yunho, Jung Yunho.” Yunho holds his hand out and Yoochun stares at Yunho’s hand a second too long before shaking it.
“I was told that I would be meeting a Shim Changmin.” Yoochun says, withdrawing his hand away from Yunho’s (strong, confident) grip.
“Um,” Yunho hesitates for a while, running a hand through his neatly styled hair. “The thing is, Changmin is in the hospital, he was involved in an accident. So, he couldn’t make it but he didn’t want you to feel bad that he was ditching last minute so - yeah, here I am.” Yunho shrugs
Yoochun is not too sure whether he’s supposed to be complimented or just plain insulted.
“Er, okay. I don’t want to be much of a bother. So let’s do both of us a favour and call it a night and go home?” Yoochun suggests.
Yunho looks hesitant for a split second and crinkles his nose; “If that’s what you want, I guess?” Yoochun smiles and nods; “Great to meet you, Yunho-sshi.” They shake hands again and Yoochun turns to leave. He’s a good five feet from Yunho, furiously sending a text to Jaejoong saying how the date was a disappointment and how Jaejoong, now, owes Yoochun his underwear when -
“Yoochun-sshi…”
Yoochun stops in mid step and turns around to see Yunho jogging towards him. “I was thinking, I mean since you are here and I am here, we should really just have dinner.”
Yoochun chuckles at the taller man; “Yunho-sshi, we really don’t need to do this just because I am here and - “
“No.” Yunho interrupts him, smiling like a winner and pulls his wallet out of his pants pockets. “No, not only because we are here but also because, “He flips his wallet open and pulls out a gold card. “Also because, Changmin was stupid enough to trust me with his gold premium credit card.” Yunho’s smile grows wider.
“Now, I know you don’t know Changmin personally.” Yunho continues and Yoochun is sort of mesmerised by the way his eyes twinkle with mischief. “But technically speaking, he was supposed to take you out on a date tonight and here he is.” Yunho waves the golden plastic card in front of Yoochun’s face. “Making sure you have a good time and treating you like royalty.”
Yunho stuffs the credit card back into his wallet and looks at Yoochun; “Now, Yoochun-sshi, I will completely understand if you still want to go back home and call it a night because you - “
“Yunho-sshi,” Yoochun interrupts, his face breaking into a wide smile. “All of a sudden, I am really hungry, I think I could use with dinner.” Yoochun says, only because he is partly angry with Jaejoong and this Changmin person.
Yunho laughs loudly and grins at Yoochun; “Well, Changmin has made some reservations at this fantastic little restaurant right here, so shall we?”
As it turns out, it’s a not a little restaurant; definitely fantastic though. Yoochun sits through dinner and learns more about Yunho, how he is Changmin’s best friend since forever. Yunho’s a working lawyer, a sports enthusiast, adores kids and has a really bad habit of losing things and forgets dates. He also hates the ever changing technology.
“I mean, I just got used to my new phone and there’s a new one in the market already. I mean that is just so irritating.” Yunho complains as he sips on his glass of wine (the most expensive one on the menu, of course.)
Yoochun laughs, sips on his glass of wine and thanks Changmin for getting involved in an accident and he means that in every good way possible.
“We’ve spoken only about me, so far.” Yunho pouts, placing the glass back on the table. “What about you, Yoochun? What do you do?”
Yoochun shrugs and takes another sip; “I am a music composer and an occasional lyricist, also, I help in producing music, sometimes.”
“That’s awesome, Yoochun. I wish I could compose.” Yunho leans back into his seat and the light from the lantern hung above bounces off Yunho’s hair and Yoochun notes how gorgeous Yunho looks and is; Yoochun sighs.
“You must love your job.” Yunho continues, much oblivious to the way Yoochun’s looking at him.
“I suppose.” Yoochun smiles; “I mean it’s not really a job; a job is something I would consider a duty and composing isn’t a duty, it’s a hobby. When you make something out of nothing and more often than not, it becomes so beautiful you are in awe of it - like creation, why would you call creating something, a job?”
“So what, you’re like mini God then?” Yunho grins and Yoochun laughs heartily; “I suppose you can put it that way.” He says, leaning forwards to pull the wine bottle to pour himself some more and his hand accidently brushes against Yunho’s, who’s also aiming for the bottle.
Yoochun tries his best to hide the blush on his cheeks and smiles widely; “Want some more?” Yoochun asks.
Yunho looks up and stares at Yoochun; he establishes an eye contact and Yoochun can feel his heart racing all over his body and all of a sudden, everything is turning warmer.
“I would love some more, Yoochun.” Yunho says, not breaking eye contact and something tells Yoochun that Yunho was not talking about the wine.
+
The waiter comes along with the dessert menu after the duo is done with their main course but Yunho waves the menu away; “We’d like the bill, please.”
The waiter bows out and Yoochun turns to Yunho; “You don’t like desserts?”
“Why? Do you?”
“Answering a question with a question, smart.”
“Do you like desserts?” Yunho asks, resting his elbows on the table and leaning his face on the palms of his hand.
“I love desserts.” Yoochun says; “I love that they come in at the end of every meal, it’s kind of like a happy ending you know?”
Yunho chuckles and turns to the waiter, whose come with their bill and pulls out the credit card from his wallet to place it on the bill. But first, he flashes the credit card to Yoochun and Yoochun only laughs softly and admires that glint of mischief in Yunho’s eyes that’s never seems to die.
+
“You didn’t answer my question.” Yoochun says, once they are walking out of the restaurant.
“What question?” Yunho hums, patting his pockets for his car keys.
“Don’t you like desserts?”
“Oh.” Yunho pulls his keys out and smiles at Yoochun. “I love desserts so that’s why I am doing you a favour and taking you to the place with the best damned ice cream parlour in this town. So why don’t you just trust me on this and hop in?”
Yunho holds out the passenger’s seat door for Yoochun and the latter grins; “I am fully capable of opening a door, Yunho.” Yoochun laughs.
“I know.” Yunho nods. “But, hey, you’re my date tonight, let me treat you to how I want to treat you.”
And Yoochun doesn’t bother correcting Yunho on how he was technically, Changmin’s date.
+
Yunho’s right.
It is the best damned ice cream in the town and this is the first time Yoochun trying it.
“For someone, who loves desserts, I am surprised you don’t know about this place.” Yunho says, eating his
chocolate ice cream.
“I don’t get out of my house a lot.” Yoochun says, licking his cup clean of the last bit of ice cream. “Usually my friends bring me ice cream whenever they drop by.”
“Ah. You have nice friends.”
Yoochun thinks of Jaejoong and thinks how it was because of Jaejoong that he met this wonderful, wonderful man.
“Yeah.” Yoochun shrugs; “They are alright.”
+
Despite Yoochun’s protests, Yunho insisted to give Yoochun a ride back home.
“You didn’t really have to.” Yoochun says, buckling his seat belt around him and Yunho clicks his tongue in annoyance; “Please Yoochun, allow me to make sure you are well treated. You deserve to be, anyway.”
“What makes you say that?” Yoochun asks, raising an inquisitive eyebrow. Yoochun watches as Yunho chuckles and brings the car to life; “You’re with me, I am known for spoiling people.”
“Well, I don’t know you now, do I?” Yoochun asks a hint of cockiness in his voice.
“Then get to.” Yunho replies without hesitating. And Yoochun thinks that he’s imagining the rate at which his heart is beating.
+
“I had a great time tonight, thank you.” Yoochun says, getting out of the car and leaning on the door.
“I am glad.” Yunho says, smiling like a gentleman.
“Also, please tell Changmin-sshi to get well soon.”
“I don’t know about that.” Yunho smiles, the twinkle of mischief returning to his eyes again. “The longer Changmin stays away from you, the better for me.”
Yoochun laughs, lightly pats Yunho’s shoulder; “Are you flirting with me, Yunho-sshi?” Yoochun asks, narrowing his eyes.
“About time you realized.” Yunho laughs and Yoochun tries to gulp the lump down his throat.
“Yoochun,” Yunho continues, taking a step closer to Yoochun. “Do you know what happened at the ice cream parlour?”
“Ice cream parlour - no.” Yoochun shakes his head, conscious of the distance between them. Yunho takes another step closer and Yoochun takes a step back and feels himself lining up with the door of the car.
“I didn’t use Changmin’s premium credit card to pay for the ice cream.” Yunho says, leaning in and taking up Yoochun’s personal space.
“Oh - why?”
“Desserts are always, always the best part of the meal, Yoochun. And there was no way in hell, I was going to let Changmin pay for that.” Yunho says, biting the corner of his lips.
“So, do you want to meet up again? Soon? And this time come as maybe, my date?” Yunho leans in further, the tips of their noses touching and Yoochun gulps loudly; “Sure.” He says, his eyes fluttering close when Yunho’s lips find his.
