Ah, I finally started Diaz's book as well. Discovered him in anthology called Rotten English I read last spring for class and bought his book shortly after that but finally getting around to reading it. I really really love it, not finished but getting there.
I haven't been reading as much so far this summer as hoped but I think my brain needed a break after taking four English lit classes this past semester. But yeah, I started it a couple weeks ago but haven't been reading it every day which is why I'm not done yet -- but got alot read yesterday while waiting in the courthouse for jury duty.
Brains definitely need a little detox from all that heavy reading. I find that in general after working all day editing books, when I get home, I'd just rather cook or watch TV. I guess it's a job hazard?
How was your jury duty? Last March I had my first time at that...rather boring overall. But then I have it again later this month. Ugh.
Jury duty was alright. I found it kind of exciting to be back in a courtroom which I hadn't been in since Mock Trial in HS. But the other day was just people giving their excuses for "intolerable hardships," so I gotta go back on Monday when they're actually gonna pick the jury. I don't know if I'll be picked though...a friend from HS went last week and said they don't usually like to pick young people.
But I wouldn't mind being picked as long as the trial doesn't go into my vacation in mid-June.
That sounds a lot more complicated than what I had to do. I just showed up and sat around for most of the day. They called me into one case and they picked a jury of like, 9, and the rest of us just had to go back to the courthouse and sit there until the end of the day. They played kiddie movies in the non-quiet rooms and gave us $15 for lunch. It was just kinda "eh." And I have to do it again next Thursday.
I don't think I'll rewatch Glee again unless I haphazardly stumble upon it, but this episode? I would rewatch this episode, because the "Safety Dance" and "I Dreamed a Dream" were made of WIN.
I've heard that about HFS, so I'm going to power through. I actually haven't read TTW, but I did listen to part of it on tape on my commute to work...but I thought the person reading Henry's parts was so annoying that it kind of ruined the book for me. However, I know tons of people who love that book to bits. Maybe I'll give it another chance one day.
And OMG the Bones! I will repeat myself: asdf!#jlka&jfda;l!!! I'm rewatching the pilot (again) to refamiliarize myself just in case. OMG can't wait. Looking for to squeeage on the new community later tonight!
