I grew up in the 'Midsomer', i.e. the Chilterns, which is where TV crews came, and still do, for 'rural setting'. The houses in the nearest village had their TV aerials on pulleys, so they could winch them down during filming, I've lost count of the number of times the church D and I got married in has appeared in Agatha Christie mysteries.
