Interpretation

I believe one of the main things a good society promotes is a situation in which no one need die for anything.

For a good portion of our history, one's life was in large part defined by how one died.

I believe we're talking about two different kinds of death.

Nevertheless, I think you have a point. Such a person, I think, would be opposed to a good society. (Of course, the word "good" is a bit ambiguous here...shall I say it? A matter of interpretation...)
