orz I know there's already another fill started for this and this is super late but author!anon couldn't resistKida rested his cheek on his palm, staring blankly at his computer screen. He’d been reading over chatlogs from previous sessions, looking for any hints at all as to what Mikado liked, and what he disliked. In any other case this probably would’ve been considered horribly stalker-esque

reCaptcha: The Rifle maybe Kida could get Mikado a rifle, am I right
Kida found himself standing before a clerk in a random shop he’d selected, staring down at his wrist, and then at the clock on the wall. One o’clock, okay. He still had time, he still had like… eight hours to run around, yeah. “What would you recommend for a… fifteen year old boy? Sixteen? Something around that age?”
The clerk stared up at him in disbelief. “Aren’t you fifteen yourself?”
Kida paled. “Um, yeah, but… a shy fifteen year old? I don’t… I can’t decide-” he tried to explain, but ended up tongue-tied. What could he say? ‘I’m looking for a present for my boyfriend. Well, he’s my unofficial boyfriend. I have no idea what he likes because I don’t listen to him when he’s talking sometimes because I’m too busy- what was I too busy doing…?’
The clerk remained unimpressed and uttered something about holding up the line, and Kida hurried away. He’d just have to guess, and cross his fingers. A stuffed animal wouldn’t be too bad, would it? What was the worst

The 21st.
Kida was noticeably panicked, but neither Anri nor Mikado bothered to make a comment about it. “Um, here, Mikado-kun.” Anri had held out a cute little bag stuffed with blue tissue paper, and Mikado sifted through it and pulled out… a gift card. Damn.
“Oh, thanks, Sonohara-san!” Mikado said, looking horribly cheerful. It made Kida sick. Sick with jealousy, but still he felt sick. Anri looked expectantly up at Kida, eyebrow arched, but Kida only lowered his head quickly and pushed Mikado down the sidewalk. “Um, um, good-bye, Anri-chan,” Kida muttered, hurrying Mikado along in the direction of his apartment. “we’re going to go to Mikado’s apartment, and… I mean… Mikado is- studying, right- wait- we didn’t have school today, I- good-bye

I absolutely loved this! Exactly what I had in mind when I wrote down the prompt. xDDD
But it built character, right? … right?
That sounds like something Calvin's dad from "Calvin & Hobbes" would say. LMAO
